EDI ASN Labeling Instructions
Cressida Associates
EDI Service Bureau
To successfully ship to your trading partner it may be necessary for you to transmit an Advanced Ship Notice (ASN/856). An ASN is an edi document that contains all the required information about a shipment in the following levels: Failure to comply with your trading partner requirements may result in chargebacks for your company.
Ship Level - date of shipment, carrier, total lading quantity and weight
Cressida will provide the services to make a good ASN. You can request from us to have UCC-128 labels printed and delivered to your warehouse, and as we print them we will be building the Order, Pack and Item levels needed for the ASN. Your request for labels should include all the specifics about how the items are to be packed whether it is by pre-packs, random packing, Goods-On-Racks; but we must know what items are boxed together and for which stores, call us for details.
-Labels can be printed by us and shipped overnight or by ground to your facility. Also, if you have a compatible printer and are part of our ASP Service the labels can be printed directly at your site.
-Otherwise, if your source for UCC-128 labels is other than Cressida you will need to find a way to get to us the information to complete the Order, Pack and Item levels. We will need to know what Stores you are shipping to, what Carton Numbers (20 digit UCC-128) are being shipped to the each store, and what items (upc and qty) are placed in each carton.
The day that you ship we will need to transmit the ASN to your trading partner, in order to do this please fax or email your “Carrier Signed” Bill of Lading Document to us at Cressida. The BOL completes the ASN by supplying the information for the Ship Level.
Before you ship your goods be sure that you have discussed and come to an agreement with us at Cressida as to how and what method you will label your cartons and what documentation will be transferred between your company and Cressida Associates to adequately satisfy your trading partners requirements.
